I can't reproduce the behavior you see with a simple example. If you want concrete help, you need to provide us with a minimal and self-contained example that shows the problem.

ps I have version '2.29 (commit 74b5946a, )' because I work on a university server that is a pain to update regularly in case this was a known bug.
